Se investiga una importante entrega de cocaína entre Galicia y Portugal.

La aparición de narcolanchas en Portugal se ha convertido en un fenómeno cada vez más común a lo largo de toda su costa. Recientemente, se han llevado a cabo varias operaciones en Lisboa, así como en el norte del país, donde hace pocas semanas se interceptó una de estas embarcaciones en el río Miño, a la altura de Caminha. En este contexto, la estrecha franja que separa Galicia del norte de Portugal ha sido escenario de lo que parece ser una significativa descarga de cocaína.

Para respaldar esta afirmación, se presentan dos evidencias claras. La primera se refiere a un incidente en el que tres presuntos narcotraficantes, que parecían haber fallecido, fueron finalmente rescatados mientras intentaban realizar una maniobra para recoger un alijo de cocaína en alta mar. La segunda evidencia involucra la detención en el acto de otro narcotraficante que intentaba navegar por el río Miño en una embarcación equipada con cuatro potentes motores, siendo interceptado a la altura de Caminha, frente a las costas españolas.

Respecto a esta última detención, el Departamento de Investigación Criminal de Braga de la Polícia Judiciária, en estrecha colaboración y con intercambio de información con la Guardia Civil de España, se hizo con una embarcación de alta velocidad en la playa de Moledo, ubicada en Caminha, ya en aguas del río Miño, y arrestó a un individuo sospechoso de participar en actividades de tráfico de drogas.

Las autoridades sospechan que se estaba realizando la descarga de un importante alijo de hachís utilizando embarcaciones de alta velocidad, en la zona costera que abarca tanto el territorio portugués como el español al norte de Viana do Castelo.

En este contexto, en las primeras horas de la noche de este jueves, se observó una lancha rápida que, tras varios intentos infructuosos de ingresar al río Miño, finalmente cambió de dirección hacia el sur y poco después fue intencionadamente dirigida hacia la zona arenosa de la playa de Moledo, donde encalló y fue abandonada de inmediato, sin que se encontrara ninguna sustancia estupefaciente a bordo.

Se inició una persecución inmediata contra el único miembro de la tripulación que fue avistado, quien fue finalmente interceptado y resultó ser un ciudadano extranjero que intentaba escapar del lugar para evadir la acción de las fuerzas policiales. Posteriormente, el sospechoso fue identificado y aprehendido bajo la sospecha de estar vinculado al tráfico de drogas.

La operación también condujo a la incautación de la lancha antes mencionada, la cual estaba equipada con cuatro motores fueraborda, contaba con el depósito de combustible lleno, además de dispositivos de comunicación y una pequeña cantidad de estupefacientes en posesión del detenido.

La Policía Marítima, que brindó apoyo logístico durante la operación, trasladó la narcolancha a sus instalaciones. El detenido ya ha comparecido ante un juez para un interrogatorio inicial en el Tribunal Judicial de Caminha, y se encuentra a la espera de una resolución sobre las posibles medidas coercitivas que puedan aplicarse.

Simultáneamente, y casi en el mismo momento pero a unas millas más al sur, la Autoridad Marítima Nacional, a través del Comando Local de la Policía Marítima y la Estación de Rescate de Viana do Castelo, asistió anoche a tres individuos, dos de nacionalidad española y uno de nacionalidad sueca, con edades comprendidas entre 25 y 40 años, quienes fueron rescatados por un barco mercante después de que la narcolancha en la que viajaban colisionara a unas 60 millas náuticas al oeste de Viana do Castelo.

Tras recibir una alerta a las 00:45 horas de la noche, el Centro de Búsqueda y Rescate Marítimo de Lisboa informó que las personas estaban siendo rescatadas en alta mar tras el accidente. En consecuencia, se activó la tripulación de la Estación de Rescate de Viana do Castelo, así como la Policía Marítima, la Guardia Nacional Republicana (GNR) y la Policía Judiciaria (PJ).

Al llegar cerca del barco mercante, a unas dos millas náuticas (aproximadamente 3,7 kilómetros) al oeste del puerto exterior de Viana do Castelo, el personal de la Policía Marítima asumió el control sobre las tres personas, mientras que el equipo de la Estación de Rescate procedió a remolcar la embarcación de los traficantes, que contaba con dos motores fueraborda.

Los tres sospechosos, quienes se encontraban en buen estado físico, fueron identificados y, tras la coordinación con la Policía Judiciaria, decidieron abandonar voluntariamente las instalaciones policiales, quedando registrados en el proceso.

La embarcación, que navegaba bajo bandera española, fue incautada como medida preventiva. Ahora serán las autoridades policiales de ambos países las encargadas de continuar con las investigaciones para intentar localizar la droga, un desafío considerable si es que esta ya ha podido ser descargada.

An important cocaine shipment between Galicia and Portugal is under investigation.

The emergence of narcolanchas in Portugal has become an increasingly common phenomenon along its entire coast. Recently, several operations have been carried out in Lisbon, as well as in the northern part of the country, where just a few weeks ago one of these vessels was intercepted in the Minho River, near Caminha. In this context, the narrow strip that separates Galicia from northern Portugal has been the scene of what appears to be a significant cocaine drop.

To support this claim, two clear pieces of evidence are presented. The first refers to an incident in which three alleged drug traffickers, who seemed to have died, were ultimately rescued while attempting to carry out a maneuver to collect a cocaine shipment at sea. The second piece of evidence involves the on-the-spot arrest of another drug trafficker who was trying to navigate the Minho River in a vessel equipped with four powerful engines, being intercepted near Caminha, off the Spanish coast.

Regarding this last arrest, the Criminal Investigation Department of Braga of the Polícia Judiciária, in close collaboration and information exchange with the Civil Guard of Spain, seized a high-speed vessel on Moledo beach, located in Caminha, already in the waters of the Minho River, and arrested an individual suspected of being involved in drug trafficking activities.

Authorities suspect that a significant hashish shipment was being unloaded using high-speed vessels in the coastal area that encompasses both Portuguese and Spanish territory north of Viana do Castelo.

In this context, in the early hours of Thursday night, a speedboat was observed that, after several unsuccessful attempts to enter the Minho River, finally changed direction southward and shortly thereafter was intentionally directed towards the sandy area of Moledo beach, where it ran aground and was immediately abandoned, with no narcotic substances found on board.

An immediate chase was initiated against the only crew member who was sighted, who was ultimately intercepted and turned out to be a foreign citizen attempting to escape the scene to evade police action. Subsequently, the suspect was identified and apprehended on suspicion of being linked to drug trafficking.

The operation also led to the seizure of the aforementioned speedboat, which was equipped with four outboard motors, had a full fuel tank, as well as communication devices and a small amount of narcotics in the possession of the detainee.

The Maritime Police, which provided logistical support during the operation, transported the narcolancha to its facilities. The detainee has already appeared before a judge for an initial interrogation at the Judicial Court of Caminha and is awaiting a decision on possible coercive measures that may be applied.

Simultaneously, and almost at the same moment but a few miles further south, the National Maritime Authority, through the Local Command of the Maritime Police and the Rescue Station of Viana do Castelo, assisted three individuals, two of Spanish nationality and one of Swedish nationality, aged between 25 and 40 years, who were rescued by a merchant ship after the narcolancha they were traveling in collided about 60 nautical miles west of Viana do Castelo.

After receiving an alert at 00:45 hours, the Lisbon Maritime Search and Rescue Center reported that the individuals were being rescued at sea following the accident. Consequently, the crew of the Viana do Castelo Rescue Station, as well as the Maritime Police, the National Republican Guard (GNR), and the Polícia Judiciaria (PJ) were activated.

Upon arriving near the merchant ship, about two nautical miles (approximately 3.7 kilometers) west of the outer port of Viana do Castelo, the personnel of the Maritime Police took control of the three individuals, while the Rescue Station team proceeded to tow the traffickers' vessel, which had two outboard motors.

The three suspects, who were in good physical condition, were identified and, after coordination with the Polícia Judiciaria, decided to voluntarily leave the police facilities, being registered in the process.

The vessel, which was sailing under the Spanish flag, was seized as a preventive measure. Now, the police authorities of both countries will be responsible for continuing the investigations to try to locate the drugs, a considerable challenge if it has already been unloaded.
