La Guardia Nacional Republicana (GNR) de Portugal, que en julio ya había confiscado más de 3 toneladas de cocaína en el Algarve tras seguir a una furgoneta que recogía un cargamento recién llegado a una playa de Olhão, ha conseguido otro éxito al interceptar un desembarco de drogas en Setúbal. Las entradas de sustancias ilegales a través de Portugal han sido constantes en los últimos tiempos. De hecho, se presume que el alijo que desencadenó el presunto vuelco y tiroteo en Países Bajos llegó a España desde el país vecino.
En esta ocasión, fue la Unidad de Control Costero y de Fronteras (UCCF) de la GNR la que detuvo, en la madrugada del 2 de septiembre, a un individuo y confiscó aproximadamente 400 kilos de cocaína en dicha localidad.
Durante una operación de patrullaje enfocada en el control costero, los agentes de la Guardia Nacional observaron movimientos sospechosos en el Parque Natural da Arrábida. Ante la sospecha de que podría tratarse de un desembarco de mercancía ilícita proveniente por vía marítima, se activó de inmediato una operación para interceptar a los sospechosos y evitar que la mercancía fuera distribuida o recuperada.
Para llevar a cabo la intervención, se movilizaron de manera rápida medios terrestres y aéreos, que lograron monitorear el desembarco de la sustancia estupefaciente en la zona de Albarquel, evitando así su llegada al mercado ilegal. Se pudo detener a uno de los sospechosos, mientras que el resto, un total de al menos ocho individuos, logró escapar a pie.
En el operativo se incautaron 10 fardos de cocaína. La investigación contó con el apoyo de medios de la Unidad Nacional de Tránsito y el Comando Territorial de Setúbal, además de la colaboración de la Policía Marítima.
La Guardia Nacional Republicana realiza una vigilancia constante de la costa y de las aguas bajo jurisdicción nacional, reforzando el dispositivo operativo con el objetivo de prevenir y combatir la criminalidad transfronteriza, especialmente el tráfico de estupefacientes y otras actividades ilícitas relacionadas con el uso de la vía marítima.

The Guarda Nacional Republicana (GNR) of Portugal, which had already confiscated more than 3 tons of cocaine in the Algarve in July after following a van that picked up a shipment recently arrived at a beach in Olhão, has achieved another success by intercepting a drug landing in Setúbal. The entries of illegal substances through Portugal have been constant in recent times. In fact, it is presumed that the shipment that triggered the alleged overturn and shooting in the Netherlands arrived in Spain from the neighboring country.
On this occasion, it was the Coastal and Border Control Unit (UCCF) of the GNR that arrested an individual and confiscated approximately 400 kilos of cocaine in that locality in the early hours of September 2.
During a patrol operation focused on coastal control, GNR agents observed suspicious movements in the Parque Natural da Arrábida. Suspecting that it could be an illegal goods landing coming by sea, an operation was immediately activated to intercept the suspects and prevent the goods from being distributed or recovered.
To carry out the intervention, ground and air resources were quickly mobilized, which managed to monitor the landing of the narcotic substance in the Albarquel area, thus preventing its arrival in the illegal market. One of the suspects was arrested, while the rest, a total of at least eight individuals, managed to escape on foot.
The operation seized 10 bales of cocaine. The investigation was supported by resources from the National Traffic Unit and the Territorial Command of Setúbal, as well as the collaboration of the Maritime Police.
The Guarda Nacional Republicana conducts constant surveillance of the coast and the waters under national jurisdiction, reinforcing the operational device with the aim of preventing and combating cross-border crime, especially drug trafficking and other illegal activities related to the use of maritime routes.
