En la región del Caribe, tras diversas intervenciones que incluyeron la confiscación de una narcolancha, un semisumergible y equipos tecnológicos en las costas locales, así como los 3.000 kilos de cocaína incautados vinculados a España, particularmente a Sanlúcar de Barrameda, la Fuerza de Tarea Conjunta Interagencial Sur (JIATF-South, por su sigla en inglés) ha llevado a cabo con éxito otra operación contra el narcotráfico.
En esta ocasión, la JIATF-South lideró y orquestó una rápida investigación marítima en el Caribe Occidental, colaborando estrechamente con la Armada de Colombia y el Servicio Nacional Aeronaval de Panamá. La alarma se activó cuando una aeronave de patrullaje marítimo del Comando Sur identificó una embarcación sospechosa que navegaba a gran velocidad.
Los medios aéreos mantuvieron un seguimiento ininterrumpido hasta que se realizó un relevo táctico con las fuerzas panameñas. Con base en este monitoreo, el Servicio Aeronaval logró detener la embarcación y, tras un exhaustivo registro en el puerto, se descubrió un compartimento oculto construido en el propio casco que contenía 490 paquetes de cocaína.
Una vez confirmada la cantidad de sustancia incautada, que ascendía a 587 kilos de dicha droga, se procedió a la detención de los dos presuntos contrabandistas y a la inmovilización de la embarcación implicada.
Las fuerzas de seguridad continúan su labor en la protección del hemisferio y en el desmantelamiento de redes criminales transnacionales. Esta operación resalta la relevancia de la interdicción marítima en la lucha contra las sustancias estupefacientes ilegales y la defensa de las comunidades estadounidenses ante esta amenaza letal.

**Title: Disruption of a drug boat in the Caribbean with 587 kilos of cocaine hidden in its structure**
In the Caribbean region, following various interventions that included the confiscation of a drug boat, a semi-submersible, and technological equipment on local coasts, as well as the 3,000 kilos of cocaine seized linked to Spain, particularly to Sanlúcar de Barrameda, the Joint Interagency Task Force South (JIATF-South) has successfully carried out another operation against drug trafficking.
On this occasion, JIATF-South led and orchestrated a rapid maritime investigation in the Western Caribbean, closely collaborating with the Colombian Navy and the National Aeronaval Service of Panama. The alarm was triggered when a maritime patrol aircraft from Southern Command identified a suspicious vessel traveling at high speed.
The aerial assets maintained uninterrupted surveillance until a tactical handover was made to Panamanian forces. Based on this monitoring, the Aeronaval Service was able to stop the vessel, and after a thorough search at the port, a hidden compartment built into the hull was discovered containing 490 packages of cocaine.
Once the amount of seized substance, which totaled 587 kilos of the drug, was confirmed, the two alleged traffickers were arrested, and the implicated vessel was immobilized.
Security forces continue their work in protecting the hemisphere and dismantling transnational criminal networks. This operation highlights the importance of maritime interdiction in the fight against illegal narcotics and the defense of American communities against this lethal threat.
