Agentes de la Oficina Central Nacional de Interpol en Santo Domingo, República Dominicana, una sección vinculada a la Policía Nacional del país caribeño, arrestaron a un ciudadano italiano buscado por las autoridades judiciales de su nación por su presunta implicación en delitos de asociación ilícita y tráfico de sustancias estupefacientes y psicotrópicas. La presencia de fugitivos acusados de narcotráfico provenientes de Italia es habitual en diversas partes del mundo, especialmente en España, pero también en países de América Latina.
El individuo en cuestión es Loris Di Castri, de 53 años, quien fue detenido en la calle Rojas Alou, en el Distrito Nacional, y que había permanecido en el país realizando actividades supuestamente legales que le permitieron intentar pasar desapercibido. No obstante, la cooperación internacional facilitó su captura para ser extraditado.
La detención se llevó a cabo en cumplimiento de una resolución emitida el 23 de febrero de 2026 por la Segunda Sala de la Suprema Corte de Justicia, que ordenaba su arresto con fines de extradición. Este extranjero era buscado mediante una Notificación Roja de Interpol fechada el 22 de octubre de 2019.
La captura se logró gracias al intercambio de información entre las oficinas de Interpol en Italia y en Santo Domingo, como parte de las acciones emprendidas por la agencia policial en apoyo al proyecto PACCTO 2.0.
El detenido permaneció bajo custodia policial en Santo Domingo y fue puesto a disposición del Ministerio Público para iniciar el procedimiento correspondiente de extradición.
La Policía Nacional reafirmó su compromiso de seguir fortaleciendo la cooperación internacional en la lucha contra el crimen organizado y en la captura de fugitivos requeridos por la justicia.

Agents from the National Central Bureau of Interpol in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, a section linked to the National Police of the Caribbean country, arrested an Italian citizen wanted by judicial authorities in his nation for his alleged involvement in crimes of illicit association and trafficking of narcotic and psychotropic substances. The presence of fugitives accused of drug trafficking from Italy is common in various parts of the world, especially in Spain, but also in countries in Latin America.
The individual in question is Loris Di Castri, 53 years old, who was arrested on Rojas Alou Street in the National District and had been in the country engaging in supposedly legal activities that allowed him to attempt to go unnoticed. However, international cooperation facilitated his capture for extradition.
The arrest was made in compliance with a resolution issued on February 23, 2026, by the Second Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice, which ordered his arrest for extradition purposes. This foreigner was wanted through an Interpol Red Notice dated October 22, 2019.
The capture was achieved thanks to the exchange of information between the Interpol offices in Italy and Santo Domingo, as part of the actions undertaken by the police agency in support of the PACCTO 2.0 project.
The detainee remained in police custody in Santo Domingo and was made available to the Public Ministry to initiate the corresponding extradition procedure.
The National Police reaffirmed its commitment to continue strengthening international cooperation in the fight against organized crime and in the capture of fugitives wanted by justice.
