En las últimas semanas, las autoridades del Reino Unido, concretamente la Agencia Nacional contra el Crimen (NCA, por sus siglas en inglés), han llevado a cabo dos importantes operaciones contra el tráfico de cocaína en puertos, siendo la primera en Southampton y la más reciente en London Gateway. Todo indica que se ha descubierto una ruta previamente no detectada, y esta evidencia ha sido confirmada al otro lado del Atlántico.
De este modo, como parte de la ofensiva integral contra el crimen organizado, la Policía Nacional de Colombia ha logrado incautar otras cuatro toneladas de clorhidrato de cocaína que tenían como objetivo llegar al Reino Unido. Este alijo fue interceptado en el puerto de Urabá, un territorio controlado por el Clan del Golfo. El destino final era, nuevamente, el puerto de Londres.
La droga, una vez más, estaba oculta en un envío de mercancía lícita, aunque en esta ocasión estaba camuflada de manera que imitaba los mencionados snacks.
«Este resultado afecta directamente las finanzas del Clan del Golfo y evita la comercialización de cerca de 10 millones de dosis en mercados internacionales, con un valor que supera los 155 millones de dólares», añade Zambrano.
Y no solo impacta a los criminales colombianos, que también se ven afectados, sino a sus socios europeos, quienes no podrán recibir este lucrativo cargamento y observan cómo una de las rutas que consideraban seguras se encuentra en peligro. Será interesante ver si esta operación concluye con la detención de quienes son responsables.

In recent weeks, authorities in the United Kingdom, specifically the National Crime Agency (NCA), have carried out two significant operations against cocaine trafficking at ports, the first in Southampton and the most recent at London Gateway. Everything indicates that a previously undetected route has been uncovered, and this evidence has been confirmed on the other side of the Atlantic.
Thus, as part of the comprehensive offensive against organized crime, the National Police of Colombia has managed to seize another four tons of cocaine hydrochloride that was intended to reach the United Kingdom. This shipment was intercepted at the port of Urabá, a territory controlled by the Gulf Clan. The final destination was, once again, the port of London.
The drug was once again hidden in a shipment of legitimate goods, although this time it was camouflaged to resemble the aforementioned snacks.
"This outcome directly affects the finances of the Gulf Clan and prevents the marketing of nearly 10 million doses in international markets, with a value exceeding 155 million dollars," adds Zambrano.
And it not only impacts the Colombian criminals, who are also affected, but also their European partners, who will not be able to receive this lucrative cargo and watch as one of the routes they considered safe is now in jeopardy. It will be interesting to see if this operation concludes with the arrest of those responsible.
